How blogging has helped me grow

Hello, everyone. It’s your friend Jaden again. Today, I want to discuss how blogging has helped me grow personally and academically. Since I started writing my blog every week in November last year, I've learned a lot and seen many positive changes in myself.

Improving my writing skills
One of the biggest benefits of blogging is how much it has improved my writing skills. In school, we had to write about famous people like David Attenborough and Ernest Shackleton. Thanks to my blogging practice, these assignments were much easier, and I even got good marks! My teachers and private tutor noticed the improvement, which made me really happy. Writing regularly has made me more confident in expressing my thoughts and ideas on paper.
Enhancing my creativity
Blogging has also boosted my creativity. I get to write about all sorts of topics, from school events to personal interests. For example, I wrote about meeting Jane Goodall and participating in the Christmas bake-off. Thinking of new blog ideas each week keeps my mind active and helps me see the world in different ways. I’ve learned that creativity is not just about drawing or painting; it’s also about telling stories and sharing experiences.

Learning time management
Balancing schoolwork and blogging has taught me a lot about time management. I’ve learned to plan my week so I can finish my homework and still have time to write my blog. I usually start writing on Monday or Tuesday and aim to publish my blog by Thursday. This routine helps me stay organised and ensures I meet my deadlines. Learning to manage my time effectively is a skill that will help me in many areas of my life.
Gaining knowledge and insights
Blogging encourages me to research and learn new things. When I write about a topic, I often need to find more information to make my blog interesting and informative. For instance, when I wrote about the York trip, I learned a lot about the city’s history. This not only makes my blog better but also helps me gain knowledge that I can use in school and beyond.

Building confidence
Publishing my blog every week has given me a sense of accomplishment and boosted my confidence. Seeing my work online and knowing that people read and enjoy it is a fantastic feeling. It’s like keeping a journal or diary, but one that I can share with others. My family, friends, and even my teachers have given me positive feedback, which motivates me to keep writing and improving.
Reflecting on my experiences
Blogging helps me reflect on my experiences and understand them better. Writing about events like the Christmas bake-off or the school choir’s performance at the Royal Albert Hall allows me to relive those moments and appreciate them more. It’s a way to capture memories and see how they have shaped who I am. Looking back at my blogs, I can see how much I’ve grown and learned over time.
